Hey guys, I went out today and lost my damn keys to my bike. Now does anyone know how much it costs for a locksmith to make a new one or if it is even possible... cuz I dont think I have the damn money. I have only had the bike for like 4 days!! this is a catastrophy!!

 

Check whoever you picked it up from fora spare. Dunno what a locksmith would be able to do for you, might have to get it rekeyed. I doubt the dealer keeps track of the codes

In my manual, the key number is wrote down for my bike. Look in your manual and see if its the same. If it is, just tell your dealer you need that key number made.

if nothin else a locksmith can key it for ya , they just have to pull the ignition switch out. i have a few friends that are locksmiths so unfortunately i have no clue what the charge is for that. i would definitely check at the dealer to see if they could help ya out...since ya did kinda just buy the bike, never hurts to ask(worst case they just say no) good luck to ya

 

Ok thanks guys... the dealership that I bought it from is closed on wednesdays so I'll have to call him tomorrow. They didn't give me a manual with the bike so maybe they have it. The previous owner got shot up in a shoot out with the police so he can't be of any assistance.

 

My dealer told me I could get the keycode from inside the ignition. Havent looked yet but if I get to it within the next few days I will let you know.

 

hey guys thanks for all of the help. The dealership couldnt do anything for me so I had to find a locksmith. It ended up costing me $90 which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It felt so good to be able to hop back on my bike.

 

$90 is well worth it, now ride straight to the walmart and make some spares

Was he able to cut you a new key or did you need a new ignition cylinder too?

 

He was able to cut me a new key and he made me a spare for only $3 extra
