1-We are all a happy family of Kawi riders, and this is a motorcycle forum...be happy.
2-If you were actually trying to convince people of something I would start by not offending everyone who doesn't agree with you. I personally have always voted for who I thought was best, not by party lines.
3-What did you do in the Army? Have you been to Iraq? Just wondering who all of these innocent civilians are we are killing becauseI didn't see any of that in my time there.
4-I agree that most of the AM radiopersonalities are followers (not leaders), but you sound shockingly similar to the worst "shock-jocks"with your hatefulness.
Rick
edit:spelling...sorry maybe I'm one of the dumbasses you are being so condescending to.
I'm generally happy, but no longer find much about America to be happy about. The scenery, the weather, my job and my little piece of property near the coast. (And I'm DEFINITELY happy I turned down that $11,000 separation bonus when I ETSed, because I would be in Iraq right now if I had.) But so much else I see lately makes me sick:
Habeas Corpus? Optional now.
Torture? That's allowed, but only by us.
Turning massive budget surplusses into massive deficits and dumping the mortgage for this unnecessary war on the future generation? Freedom isn't free.
MERCENARIES?!? Well, we can't find enough young people willing to volunteer for this goat-screw.
Pre-emptive war to find: Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction? (scratch that)
Free the Iraqi people from the now-evil dictator WE put in power and supported against the will of his people? (scratch that too)
Find the evildoers who orchestrated 9/11? (scratch that, but the CIA gave us faulty intel.)
Sometimes the headlines make me feel like a man in a Twilight Zone episode who inexplicably wakes up as a citizen of Germany in the late '30s.
And some in here equate my criticizing these monsters Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, etc as proslytizing for the Democrats (who aren't worth a fart in a noisemaker, which is another thing about America that makes me sick: we have no viable party that will take us in any direction but catastrophically down.)
We are going to lose this war and what will those young soldiers have died for? The same thing all those young soldiers died in Vietnam for?

In our lifetimes, we'll witness the end of the American Empire. Personally I think we'll be a better country once we've lost our ability to pursue an empire (or "future operations"), but I hope we'll still be around, like the UK after the gentle collapse of the British Empire.
I am sorry for bringing it up and I didn't call you personally a dumb@$$. But when I see what's happening and see the responses of people (poking fun at Al Gore, etc.) it's hard to remain quiet, and hard to give people who are okay with it the benefit of the doubt.
I'm open to continuing this discussion civilly with you ZZrick via email (calamarichris@yahoo.com), but this is my last post in here on the matter. (Here's an opportunity for some of you to get the last word in.) I regret coming in here after reading more bad news and venting. I come here primarily to help people with their 500's, not to convince anyone of anything; (hell, the damage is already done and all the convincing in the world won't undo it.)
Peace. -Calamarichris in Carlsbad, CA

I don't understand why you are so depressed about our country. A few more points I would like to make to you are below even if you don't want to post again I'm sure you will read everything.

1- I will never understand whyanyone thinks a weak and vulnerable country is a better one.Ithink we agree that our leaders should speak more softly, but I believe we should always have the biggest stick.
2-Any"torture" we are involved with pales in comparison to the barbaric acts of any Middle-Eastern country, the difference is we are trying to get information to protect ourselves, they do it because of religious preferences.
3- You are all for us losing a war and you believe that soldiers are dying for nothing. Do you really believe that 911 was just a freak occurrence? Do you think they would have left us alone after that? We have distracted the enemy and are fighting them in their own lands, trust me, there are very few "innocent" people being killed in Iraq. To me this is much better than fighting them here because we are engaging the enemy with our professional fighting forces, instead of them coming here and blowing up office buildings.
4- Why are you so attached to Al Gore? What has he done to help our country? I am definitely not an expert on Gore, but I can't think of anything except for a documentary about the environment. Do you alsosupport Michael Moore in this way? Or anyone else who puts together informational programming?
5- I am glad to have had this conversation withyou, it is always fun to have a little political debate. I am also glad we areAmerican so that we aren't being arrested for it (as we would in most of the Islamic(or Communist) coutries) which you apparently think are just innocent victims of our "emperialism". We will be fine, and hopefully we will only become stronger. There have been many bad presidents(with many less challenges and disasters to deal with)and political situations in our history and we have pulled through all of them. You should have more faith in the people of our country. Hey...at least we don't have to deal with Chavez!
