I am looking at buying a 2001 ninja 500. The bike is in rough shape appearance wise but mechanically sound. I think it would be easier to swap a new tank than fix the old one. My question is what other model and year tanks are the same?

1994 was the year that changes were made. As far as I know all years from 1994 and up are the same.

The 500 in an excellant bike and because of the little changes between years, you'll have no problems finding whatever parts that you may need for it.
