bike wants to die
hi i was trying to practice a bit today, but my bike is acting kind of weird. its not starting properly, i figured maybe i messed something up form the other day doing the clutch/gas thing, but it turns over so nothings wrong with the starter, and the lights come on so nothings wrong with the battery. what its doing is it is starting up and then wanting to immediately go down in the rpm, normally it sits there for a bit at like between 1-2 rpm, but this time it just wants to die, unless you keep giving it gas which is flooding it it just continues to just drop until it reaches zero and the bike dies. any hints as to why its doing this? i think my dad found a peice i think its and end to a spark plug from what it looks like anyway im not sure, in the garage where my bike was parked, its like a shiny metal tiny piece and im not sure but he thinks thats what that is. but hes going to help me take the front fairing off to check it out tomorrow, but if maybe someones had this issue before? possibly? any help is appreciated thanks
Could be any number of things, first off are you using the choke to start the engine? On a cold day it will need a little to get started but then turn it off when it warms up. Next step check the fuel level, if you are out of gas it may be able to fill the bowls but not keep them supplied, and it will die. Since your bike has spent some time on its side, there is no telling how much fuel is left in it. Try switching to reserve or filling it up with some high octane and see what happens. If that doesnt work it could be something in the fuel delivery, Let us know what you find.
A spark plug end would be very easy to identify if you had a pic of it, but with a 2 cylinder I dont know if it would start well at all if the plug was broken. Get a pic up and we might be able to help. If you do tear into the bike, have fun, and pay attention, there is alot you can learn when its not running. Good luck brotha!

it ended up being the carburetors lol.that tiny piece my dad said came off a spark plug so it was probably on one of the older ones or something, we put new ones in it cause it was about 6 months anyway. but all that was needed was the carburetors cleaned and now it runs golden.
thx prom

Got good reflectors on it
When you decide to customize, keep in mind that you wont get much, if any return on investment. When I'm shopping for a ride, I wont even look at custom bikes, because I know they were made to fit someone else's style, not my own. I believe your ride should be an extension of yourself and therefore I am all for customising, but make sure your spending the money on a bike you will keep for a while, cause you probably wont get your money back in the sell. If your thinking of using the 500 as a learning bike for a season as many people do I would save the money for now, but if you intend to keep it, go all out bro. And be sure to keep us up to date on the transformation.
