Default Ninja 250R Rear Tire Swap

My girl friend is getting her first bike, the Ninja 250R. My question is she'd like to have a larger rear tire like the 190mm size. Has anyone done this to their bike and with the addition of the tire, I am assuming it will require a new swing arm and obviously rim and tire. Besides that can anyone think of anything else that would have to be changed? Possibly the rear brake?

Bit of a stretch for the 250...the Kawasaki Z1000 comes stock with a 190 rear tire, but the old ZRX1200R's came stock with a 180. Even a Suzuki SV650S comes stock with (I think) only a 160 or 170?rear tire.

A good set of tires on a 250R (OEM size) provide more than enough grip to outhandle even the larger 600cc bikes out there. I cannot think of any reason for such a wide tire on a 250 other than appearance alone.

I agree. And the cost of making that size tire fit the 250R and the loss of performance/handling, etc. would be tremendously dissapointing. I'm sure a photoshop pic of the 250 with that size tire would change her mind anyway, IMHO.
