I take my exit, and pull over. Just as i come to a stop the bike stall's and i'm unable to start it. The bike is sitting there throwing up oil. I tow it to Bucks County Kawasaki, and after a vague description of the issue, i'm told I need a new engine. Seeing as this bike isn't worth it to me, i'd like to at least know information. I have a 2002 Kawasaki 250R, and would like to eventually replace the motor. If anyone could please provide helpful advice in 1.) Locating a new motor 2.) Removal & Installation of a motor, and 3.) selling it away.

Thanks everyone!

Which i'm completely willing to do, except i've never done it before, and honestly wouldn't even know where to start. Do I have the right tools, and lets say i do install a different motor, how am i going to start it? I don't exactly know how to tune valves on a motor. If you can show me a good guide, or point me in the right direction, i'd be very willing to do that.

Thanks,
-David

from what I hear the 500 motor will fit right into the 250...my wife was going to do that with her 250 because somebody was going to give her the engine for free...never had it done because she moved up to the 636... ...I'll see what I can find out...

Sad to hear about your bad experience with the 250R, but I have to disagree. With regards to how hard it is to maintain a carb or FI bike, I'd say you'd probably be spending about the same amount of hours at both, probably more if you have an FI bike if you plan on some mods.

I never modify my bikes, other than perhaps a gel seat and better grips, and actually I disagree. I spend much less time working on my brother's Suzuki V-Strom 650 than I am on my 250.
