Default It was just the tires? Who knew?

Finally purchased better tires for the bike. I heard from many that there were much better options than the stock Dunlop K630. Dunlop does offer a sport tire (GT501) for this bike, but for some silly reason they don't offer a small enough one for the front. You have to raise up the front fender a bit just so it will fit.

This time I decided on the Pirelli Sport Demon. I personally have never chosen Pirelli for my car before, I preferred Yokohama or Kuhmo. But this seemed the most popular decision for the bike. Plus it fit properly which is obviously important. Who needs extra holes in the front fender?

Anyways, before switching I noticed that when coming to a stop and letting go of the handlebars, the bike would begin to shake vigorously. I though it just had something to do with the soft suspension on that bike. Not so. With the new Pirelli tires installed the bike was much more stable. Must be the center tread pattern? Not to mention they stick like glue on the turns.

Don't get me wrong here, the stock Dunlop tires did me well enough while I had them. I never had complaints in the canyon. But these new Pirelli tires blow them out of the turns! Ok, ok, I'll admit it, I also liked the aggressive tread pattern.

You may note that certain under sprung and dampened rides will cup the dunlop tires pretty fast. Most of the harleys and EX bikes will do that. If you can, set up your suspension as best as you can anyways. The sport demon wears pretty good and also offers pretty good traction once warmed up. I pulled a 1700 mile road trip on mine and a half day of track time with really no complaints. (I lowered the tire pressures to 26psig hot at the track and you can see from the wear that the suspension is not setup)

Dunlop is a good choice. But I got a used tire which you can find little cheaper than the new one. I got a good deal from online shopping websites.

I'd never buy a used tyre. You can never be certain that there isn't internal damage to it.
