If you dont have insurance get a lawyer NOW. My uncle didnt have insurance (not required in WA for 2 wheels) and a lady pulled out and hit him. It was her fault 100%. He had to fight tooth and nail to get anything from the insurance comapny and finally got a lawyer. That was the only way anything got done. But if you have insurance, let them know. Insurance companies has lots of big shot lawyers to do the fighting for you. Also you company will often times pay you then go after the other guy...

 

Well, on day three, things keep getting better. THe tow company assigned to taking my bike over to the shop for repair, dropped my bike off their truck. I got a call from the shop to tell me that the bike was dinged up real bad. I'm waiting on the adjuster to see what he has to say, but it looks like my bike is getting worse every time someone looks at it.

To answer some of the other posts, yes, I do have insureance on the bike. I'll let them do the fighting on what is and isn't going to get paid.

I really don't want to wait on another bike. I hope theyu can fix mine. It didn't look so bad during the initial accident. Now that it has fallen 6+ feet, off the back of a tow truck, who knows. I'll keep everyone posted. Just wanted to let everyone know of the new damage.

Glad to hear you are ok, on the plus side it sound like you should get a new bike anyways, who knows what damage has been done to this one already. especially if it was dropped from a tow truck.

 

Sorry to hear all the carnage. And as for the other guys insureance make sure you keep on top of it. I was hit three months ago on my petel bike by a kid turning right on red and not paying attention and his insureance was real nice at first but then I couldn't get a hold of the adjusterassigned to my case and just getting my bike fixed was like pulling teeth. Even now I'm haveing to go to P/T and they won't settle. The crazy part is i wasn't asking for any money except my hospital bill and getting my bike fixed but now they're making me see multipule Doctors, P/T, and still haven't addmited fault. My advise would be to stay on top of things. Good luck and i hope your situation gets better.

 

Well, I'm now on day 9 without my bike and things are starting to look up. I got the quote back from the shop and it is very repareable. it's going to be about $2k total. The shop just ordered the parts for the bike and I had them order me a Two Brothers Slip on Exhaust, a fender eliminator kit, and carbon fiber turn signals. Overall, the bike came out of the accident without any frame, swingarm, or tire damage, so that is a relief! Should have it back to me by the end of the month.

I'm still working on the medical side of the claim. Shouldn't be too much trouble. Things are starting to get back to normal. I actually went to my karate clss last night and outside of not streatching for the last week, I felt good.

glad that douchebag didn't connect at 60mph.
i leave a huge gap.. big enough for me to get around the car in front of me when i come to a stop. when i see the car behind me stop, and the car behind HIM stop, then, i'll pull up and close the gap. i've had tools pull up and try to jump in the gap i leave.. when i can tell they're gonna do that, i'll usually cut them off before they do it. if they manage to get in there, a salute and some yelling usually helps me thru it..lol

its sad people tend to not pay attention when it really matters and we end up suffering for it. ive had people jump lanes on me and im right beside them. its easy to forgetmotorcyclists exist when you dont own one youreself. but it doesnt prevent you from turning left to rightmaking sure youre clear when you want to get over. but i guess extreme lane changes and half *** driving is an ever growing trend.

 

Day 14 without my bike. Good news is that the insurance company cut me a check before the holiday, so I should see it in the mail any day now. I also talked to the shop and they have ordered the parts for the repair. I hope to be back on my bike by mid July. I am in the process of getting the medical side of the equation cleared. THat shouldn't take too long.

I am getting a new Two Brothers Slip on Exhaust for my bike out of the whole mess. I'm really jonsing for it and hope to have it back with enough time to get some summer riding in.

As for the guy that hit me, he's doing fine (as are his kids). They live in my neighborhood, so I see them every day. It was an honest accident, so I don't ahve any hard feelings towards him. I know that he was distracted with his kids (he told me that he was talking to his kids when they hit me), but having kids myself, I know that sometimes things happen.

Hopefully, he will pay closer attention to motorcycles around him and give them enough room. He was really scared during the whole accident, so I think he learned a lesson. I know that I did. Keep A LOT of room between you and the cars/trucks around you. More than you would normally give yourself.
