Default That factory air box has to go!

Well i never did like the looks of the factory air box on my 07. So today i finally got the motivation to do something about it. I kobbled some bits together and mounted 2 K&N air filter right to the carbs.

I tell ya, the induction noise is wicked! I have this sweet growl from about 6K on up. Also throtle respons is better. I didnt do any timed runs so i cannot say if its faster or not, but when you twist the fun grip it goes!

I dont know. I was going to run it for a few hundred miles and check the plugs. If they are getting white then ill get some more fuel in there. Honestly im not thinking this will change much. All this means is the carbs should be running at their absolute limit, which is what i wanted. Now once i start getting everything out better with new pipes ill realy need a rejet. But im going to see what spark plugs tell me...
On a side note wheres a good place to order new jets and needles from?

I've been looking around and it seems just the airbox mod will make you run lean, so this should burn up your engine... You should re-jet...

Default Thanks for all the info

Looking through some old posts and ran across this. YOur right, the stock air-box has to go, which it did last weekend. Now I'm waiting for some bowl gaskets to finish it up. Got my jet kit from 6sigma, lots of info and new jets to choose from. Told them about the pods I put on and the pipes I'm getting when I'm not so financially embarassed. They sent jets for both applications and for about 1/2 price of Dynojet. I'll update when I get it back on the road. Thanks Kaw forum.

I found a good solution for the crankcase vent when getting rid of the factory air box and going to pod filters. Just happened to have an old filter from a remote control car I use to have. It's a pleated gauze type filter and fits right in the hose that comes off the crankcase.
