https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_38119/tm.htm Here is some good info and discussion on beginner bikes, etc....

Dude, the gear. i wish, back 15+ years ago that I had a helmet, riding jeans ( not blue jeans), at least under armour, and boots, gloves,...I would be a good lookin dude now. lol

Asphalt tears thru jeans like a hot knife thru butter. If you look at any of the gear sites, you can find under armor and some good looking Icon jeans for not much money. Definately boots, expecially with ankle protection. There are some members on here who have dumped their sled, and totaled it....And walked away with minor damage to themselves. If you look at the main KF screen, click on the gear section and check it out.

The 250 is a great bike. I bought mine used ...and haven't had one problem out of it. I am actually about to sell it because I have another bike. They are awesome in the twisties!!! A very fun bike. You are going to have a great time on it! Wear gear. Dress for the crash!!! Its not the skills of the bike riders you have to worry about...its the people in the cages (cars)....they do not look for bikes unless they ride one. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey,

I signed up for the RIDER course. It cost about 250.00, but its a 2 day course, where they did the written exam and the riding test all in one shot. After I pasted, I went from there to the DMV in Jersey, and got my licence right away. Worth the 250.00, learned alot about how to move the motorcycle to avoid problems, metsomegreat people, I HAD A BLAST!

Looking for a 250R? I'll sell ya mine for 10k USD. Its a classic 1987.

But ya, what they all said. the MSF class sometimes takes off of your insurance depending on state and company.

hehe, yeah, 10k is thousands, I love this old girl, shes a great ride. Wouldn't sell her for the world. If your really interested in the 250r class of Ninjas, I say your best to find one cheap, in the area you live. they are very inexpensive to fix and find parts for. And luckily most years are interchangable with each other, unlike mine. 88s and up are good with each other from the same or close body stylings. my 87 is in a class with itself and the 86, starting models for the Ninja 250. The EX250-E1 and E2, my model, are pretty much prototyped compared to the 1988 and up (EX250-F2 and up) are very close, and easier to find parts for, say on eBay or aftermarket dealers. Thats my bike's downfall, but makes me keep her real stock and classic.
I have always noticed too, its easier to find a cheaper ride in the fall, winter times. Bikes are cheaper and its a buyers market. Spring and SUmmer will see an increase in price from private owners, as they really don't want to sell a bike during the season. Same goes for 4x4 trucks, just the opposite seasons. I bought my 250R back in late november from a girl who wanted something diff. I wanted soething cause me Yamaha is crashed from a accident oon the WashDC beltway, so it worked out.
Either way, good luck with what you find and good riding to ya.
