86-87 tail elimination
So, heres something for the E1 and E2 models out there. With my luck, and thats bad luck, I'm the only one on this forum with a classic Ninja 250, but I thought I'd share some things.
As I posted in areas before, the "scooter" look to the back of the 87 250R is embarrassing, disgusting, and just plain fugly! LOL, so I changed it. Heres some quick pics, takes about ten minutes.
Four hex head (5mm) thum screws hold the turnsignal/cargo hook/plate bracket onto the main frame. take them off and clip some wires. I found out that there needs to be either a jumper or the whole bulb system from the license plate light for the turns to blink, if not, its just a steady glow. Now, you can drill holes in the fairing, or just use the brackets to keep the wires somewhat out of sight. The small bulbs I got were from ebay, the putty stick on that really sticks! I lost my whole assortment of drill bits couple months back when I was moving to Maryland, but the wires don't really look bad at the end. I thought it was going to be a project, but came across very easy. Heres some pics to take a look, enjoy!

Heres the final look, without the licese plate, sorry, didn't want someone to copy it! lol!
Easy to make, just get some thin gauge sheetmetal, cut out a thin bracket from the old area of the original bracet. Usung the thumbscrews and some proper nuts on the opposite side, It was relativly simple. Don't forget to drill holes for the license plate itself though, i did! But good news, I did buy a new set of drill bits!
