Does anyone know how hard it is to swap out a 250 engine with another 250, cuz mine is runnin like crap and I really just want to replace the whole thing. The guy i bought it from had rebuilt the top end and I don't think they knew what they were doing, and within 1000 miles it was busted. any time frame approximations of how long it would take to do that or if anyone would suggest that I just get the top end rebuilt again by a dealer then let me know please; current engine has 15000 miles on it, 1997 bike.

 

Though I have not done a swap on a 250, It would probably be real simple. Since the engine and transmission are together, it would all come out as one unit. The only thing you would have to do is hook up the wiring and linkages. I would guess an afternoon worth of time.

 

Yes, give yourself about 4 hrs if you have not done it before.

haha alright sounds good...how about putting a 500cc in it? from car motor swaps, i'm guessing the mounts are probably not goin to be the same, and the transmission connection might not meet up correctly...does anyone know if its possible to put a 500 in place of the 250 with the stock 250 parts still on the bike?

 

the frames are compleetly diffrent you would fabracating mounts and it probly would cheeperand easerto just by the 500
