Check out my post from way back:
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_85191/tm.htm

Taking off the rear mudflap is very simple. Unless you make your own license plate bracket like I did, you will have to find a bracket somewhere. I think some fender eliminator kits have the brackets, but all you have to do is take a piece of sheet metal, bend it into an 'L', cut the holes out, bolt upthe plate holder from off the plastic mudflap and you're done!

For the lights, stop by theauto partsstore, and pick up two "push-in" stylebulb sockets that are made for 1156 or equivalent bulbs, push them intotheempty socket holeson each sideof the tail light, splice the wires into your bike, and presto! You're done!. Autozone seemed to have the best quality sockets I found in town even though I ended up returning them since the clear alternatives tail light kit I bought came with about the same sockets. (Word of caution: you may want to use a hair dryer to heat up the side pod socket holes because pushing in those sockets is a very tight fit.)

If you need more help than that, I can try takingsomemore pics later (maybe tomorrow) and post them up for you.

Good luck.

Can I do this for my 1987 EX250? Would really like to get rid of that "Scooter" look to the back tail.

I would think so. Take some pics of your tail, and under the tail so we can see what's going on under there!

Heres some pretty lil pics. As you can see the ugly "scooter" like rear end is what I want to loose. But placement of turn signals and all is what I am relaly wondering about.

Looking at the tech drawings from Kaw's website, it seems that on the 87 ninja, the rear fender is divided into two. Im not sure how though. First thing first would be the turn signals... Which type and where for placement? Advice? Ideas? Its hard to ask others around here when mine is a classic and they ride 00's and up.

Man! I didn't realize how different the older 250's are. I would at least replace the signals with some better looking ones, but you may have a hard time mounting your license plate without the factory bracket.

Well, the bracket can be made easily, did that to my old Buell too.
