2009 Ninja 250R "Break-In Period" & Gear Shifting Enquiry
You're going to hit past 4k taking off from a stop going uphill, and in my opinion, you should be fine as long as you don't redline it. The 250R is a real forgiving bike and you really have to not know how to ride a bike to really mess it up.
Try not to break your bike in during mountain rides, and ride safe.

I've broken in several motors before, from Gas Powered R/C Cars, to normal cars. This is the method I chose. I read up and decided it would be best to do it my own way to fit my riding style, which is spirited
0-100 Miles 1/4 Throttle, 50mph Tops. Shifting alot, RPM No greater then 6k.
- I didn't stop but maybe once, and that was to get something to eat. This was day one.
100-200miles 1/3 Throttle 55mph Top Speed, still shifting alot, RPM Max @ 7k
- This time I Stopped a few times, Varied RPMS from 6k at low speeds, to 4k Cruising, lots of Engine braking.
200-300miles 1/2 Thottle 60mph Top Speed, Shifting Faster, and more. RPM 7k max.
- No stopping this time, lots of 5th and 6th gear cruising. Some Interstate Travel, but not over 5 miles at a time. Lots of city driving.
300-400miles 3/4 Thottle, 65mph Top Speed, Trans becomes more smooth at shifting, RPM 8k max. Short Bursts of speed, but never over 8k. More Interstate travel.
400-600miles 1/2-3/4 throttle during normal city driving, 65 mph crusiing on the interstate, and short bursts to 70, and back down to 60mph Alternating between every other mile.
More Agressive Riding, short quick bursts to 60mph from a stop or 10-20mph. Never exceeding 10k rpms. And more cruising around 7-8k for a mile and then down to 4-5k rpms alternating. Some free revving to 8-9k but only at 3/4th throttle.
The bike is at 470 miles right now, still riding perfect, I can feel her open up and become a bit more responsive every day. I was actualy supprised today during one of my 20-60 mph speed runs when the front wheel came off the ground when i hit 3rd gear... It came off the ground about 6 inches. I was very supprised when this happened, it motivated me to not accellerate that hard just yet lol....
After I get the oil changed at 600 miles, I'll take it easy until 650 miles, then ill really start working her over, and learning her. I can feel that she wants to go faster, but I am keeping a tight leash on her, I have to respect her, cause she could dump me anytime she wanted.
