$400 parts bike
If its green I want the fairings
In my opinion no but thats just me. You really have to go on ebay and price out the things that are left on the bike then subtract the time it will take you to deal with selling them.
The most valueable thing is the motor and the plastics the plastics alone if perfect are worth quite a bit especially the front fairing, after that it depends on the condition and age of the tank, the color of the wheels (stock tires are worthless) the carbs. Tanks and carbs about 50 each and wheels depends on the color as to what you can get for them. Sometimes you can get something for the frame if it has a clean title but itsa limited market.
The small bits are around $9-25. The forks go for about $75 bothif theyre not damaged or need to be rebuilt. Ive seen the seat for $40.
Oh and if it as chrome exhaust they sell pretty good too.
So you may only be able to get a little over $400 for all your hard work. I would offer $200 unless the rest of the bike is newer and pristine condition. You could make your money back plus some, but $300 is more what its worth.
BTW how did they smoke the engine?
Remember its all a waste of money if you will never get around to parting it out so make sure you arent going to procrastinate doing something with it. Thats my problem anyway.

I bought mine for 500, an 87 classic 250R. I luckily havent had to put anyhitng into it except oil change, plugs, kickstands, and front turn signals. THe rear eliminatr Im working on now is purely cosmetic/aestetic that im doing for myself, but it runs just like the specs say it should.
A 400 parts bike makes me thing that you can either get more from parting it out, fixing her and selling, or keep looking.
