Default ZX636 questions

While lurking around Craigslist, I ran across an ad asking for a motorcycle mechanic. After turning many a wrench, I felt confident enough to respond to his ad, at the very least to help the guy figure out what's up. I'm not going to claim to be affluent with Kawa's, and certainly not the ZX line, so here's what he's got going on...

"O5 zx636 something keep draining battery, also had a problem with bike bucking turn on and off till finally dies won't run but turn over acts like its not getting fire or gas. I put a good ecu in it. And a new battery rode about 20 mile no problems park it then went to start the next day and battery was dead , so I'm not sure if alt is bad or fuel pump is getting hot and shorting out or both."

Any suggestions are welcome, I'd love to put a little wrench time on something newer than 1980 for a change, especially if it gets a fellow rider back on the road in time for spring.

Chris

Welcome to KF Chris. I hear ya on helping out a fellow rider and tend to agree on the ecu change out and of the ecu location because of the heat. I think there is a pdf manual in here so that you can check as you go. Welcome aboard
