'nother newbie
Hi guys!
Newbie on the system....
1996 ZX7R
Endurance racer style. Heavily tuned engine (135bhp or so... when it runs!).... full custom exhaust and race pipe.... custom graphics... flush mount zx10r indicators grafted into bodywork... single seat unit..... I'm a bit of a mechanic (though can't get to the bottom of my current snag - see technical thread), and pit crew for my mate (including the Isle of Man Manx GP)..... trying to get sponsorship to build a 750 for him to race in this year's Senior Manx GP.... only need about £20K!!!

RE: 'nother newbie
first attempt at rebuilding a bike - I launched it down the road after the front brakes seized on me!! Nothing bent, but I had to rebuild the bodywork - it's race bodywork so it's pretty resilient! did all the fibreglass work myself, sprayed it and designed all the graphics (got them printed by a guy up the road) - lacquered it myself too.... its not bad from a few feet away, but up close you can see the mistakes, but hey, it's supposed to be a road legal racer, so think I'll be forgiven!!
Plan to get myself a crash damaged ZX10R soon, put race bodywork on it, and do the same thing as the 7R - endurance halogen lamps, full Akrapovic race system (the 7's got a full custom system and carbon race can - it's load enough my friend heard me shut off for the motorway early one morning - I was 6 miles away!!), and custom graphics.... I'll probably set it up so it can be raced if I want to.......
The 7R might get proper race bodywork on it and get tuned for racing on the Isle of Man - my mate Bill(check out my photos)had his bike tuned by Slick Bass (Carl Fogarty's old race mechanic) and in one drunken moment last year he (Slick) reckoned he could get 150 reliable horses at the back wheel from a 7R! Might take him up on the offer......
Bill wants something bigger - the 600RR was a bit slow in the Manx Senior - only managed 162mph at the limit.... the limit on the Senior is 750cc, so we might go with a tuned 7R (good coz it's awesomely stable), a bored out ZX636, or go for the 'boring' choice of a tuned GSXR750....... I'm his race mechanic......
