What's up everyone. My name is Luis and I live in Los Angeles.. I'm a new rider and I've only had a few hours of experience. I'm in the market to buy a bike, not sure if ill get a new or used one yet. I'm pretty much up in the air on getting a Kawasaki or a Yamaha. Hopefully ill see and read good things about the Kawasaki sport bikes in here to make my decision a little easier

I'm looking to get a 2005-2006 zx6r. I wanted a new bike (2013 zx6r) but the full coverage for that would run about $440 a month! That's more than the monthly payment for the bike!..

I figure if I get an older model I can just have liability coverage which will run me $230 a year! Big price difference plus since I'm a new rider I'm more likely to set the bike down. I wouldn't want to damage a brand new bike because of my inexperience as a rider.

A potent ride for having only a few hrs of experience under your belt.....just concerned is all. This is not normally a good starter ride for most people.

Yes, you are correct that you will "set the bike down", whether you are a new rider or a seasoned rider, it will happen. At least you recognize that and will gear up for it with the saved insurance $'s.

All I can say is look around some more at the different rides out there. Good luck

Dragone is right, the 636 is not a good bike to learn to ride on. You should look at the 650 ninja to start with, or the new 300 or a 250. Once you get some experience, these bikes are fairly easy to sell or trade, then go for the 636. No offense, just want you to be safe.

Be careful in the dealerships, some salesmen in some dealerships only care about commission. They will sell you that 636 or r6 and not care about what happens to you.
I like the yamahas, but in my experience, kawi is better. Check out the 650 ninja for now.

I hear that josh

Not to be a stick in the mud, but I prefer my EX500 for the streets and short weekend 2000 mile cruises over my other street legal rides. I have not ridden the 650 yet for an opinion.

That was a great bike too. Wish they had updated it like they did the 250 and kept producing it.
If you ever get a chance, take a ride on the new 650 dragone, it's a nice bike. And if you can get past the looks, the versys is a nice ride too.2 of my favorite bikes.
