Hey all, I just picked up a fixer '83 GPz750. Already started to tear it apart to clean out the mouse nest in the intake, clean the jets, tinker with it over the winter, get my endorsement and ride in the spring. I just had a reality check today since it was the first time I EVER filled a battery with acid. All the ones I've dealt with are Maintainence-free ones on cars. Sounds corny, but something new to me.

Hey Steve welcome to the site, it looks like you have a great project there, keep us up to date and tell us how things are going. Get a battery maintainer so you still have a good battery when it comes time to ride. Take an MSF course if you can, that will prepare you both physically and mentally for the road ahead. Good luck with the project.

Thanks guys. Looking forward for some insight and help along the way since this would be the first bike I ever worked on. Thank god I have the manufacturer's repair manual for it.

And 10 year old gas smells nasty when it gets on your hands, I'll have you know. [:'(]

Bike has been stored in a shedsince 95, brought out once for a potential sale in 97, and then back into storage the same day. Needless to say, some rewiring was in order and some rodent house removals needed to be done. But who is complaining whenI got this for $500 and a starter bike.
