Default New Member and new to riding!

[&:] I am a new rider and am very excited to get my first bike. I have a guestion though....What bike should I get. I have been looking at a new 06 zx6r that I can get for a really good price. However I am afraid that it is going to be too much of a bike for me. I have also been looking at the ninja 250r but I cant get over how ugly it is. I have also been looking at the Hyosung GT250R which is an awesome looking bike but I am worried about the reliability. I know that I would be happy with the 636 and would keep it for years and after sitting on all of them it is the most comfortable for me. HELP! I would apprciate any advice.

Thanks
Adam

Welcome to KF. I have an 06 636, and I LOVE it. I think you will be OK, as long as you keep it under 8K. That's when it starts to come alive. Although I would suggest that you take the MSF course.

Thanks for the imput and I actually have already taken the MSF course and I am so glad that I did. Since I live in Washington I was one of the fortunate few to take my whole cours and test in the rain. Good to get that over with in the beginning I guess.

Get the 6r if you can control yourself.

uhh I have a friend who is a bike customizer...he said he worked on a Hyosung 250 last week and that it SUCKED.....that parts aren't readily available...not good. I love my ZX-6R I started on a Ninja 250 and it was great to learn on...but in less than a year I have a bigger bike....but I wouldn't want it any other way....the 250 was WELL worth what I paid for it and it served it purpose.

dude! trust me do not get a puny 250 youll out grow that thing in 2 months. my first bike is a 6r and it is so easy to ride and very fun. also id recommend taking the MSF ride course itll teach you everything youll need to know when your out on the road.

Hey, I resent that! lol. The 250R isn't that bad if you don't have extremely high expectations for it. It IS just a 250. But I do agree to a certain extent, if you want power, the 250R won't be the first place to look. But, I like it anyway.

Anywho, I'm sure you'll have fun on the ZX6R, Carbary03. Just don't get ahead of your abilities. Motorcycles are not very forgiving. Start out slow and easy until you become comfortable on it.

Welcome As for learning on a 600 supersport, don't get me started. It can be done though so just get out and ride. Nothing wrong with a 250. I bet there are alot of folks who cannot ride their bikes to their full potetial that really should be on a 250
