Whats goin on ppl. New from Louisiana. Currently own a 1989 Toyota Supra 1JZ Swap. Looking to get into the bike scene. Never been on one but taking the Motorcycle saftey course when I get home from Afghanistan in December then picking up a 250R.

 

Welcome to KF, congrats on the MSC training when you return. Ask around on the different rides that are available for your intentions. Some riders prefer dual sport while others want street only. Good luck

 

im pretty set on the 250R. I've sat on one and got the feel for it and it feels right. Got to ride briefly on a GXR 600 and it just felt too heavy for me. only 5'8 160lbs. I think the 250R will do what I need to just to cruise around town with when I am on R&R. Not trying to stunt or anything else just enjoy the days when I ride.

 

Welcome Tleg. Good plan; you can probably pick up a new/late model bike for less during December/January. If you're buying used, take a bike buddy with you to compare notes (even if you're bike-savvy.) Feel free to see if a Forum member lives near you who could help, if you like.

There is a 09 250R about 30 miles from me and she said it has been laid down due to a car pulling out in front of her. Only cosmetic problems. I'm having one of buddy's look at it for me this week and tell me whats up with it. She only wants 2000 for it. 1100 miles
