Hey All,

Just picked up this 2023 KLX 300 about 2 weeks ago. It had 300 miles on it bone stock. It was between a dual sport or possibly the CBR650R, but I already have street bikes and decided to do some BDM(?) trail trips with a very old bud of mine this season. Wasn't expecting much, already been there done that my first street bike was a 2 year leftover 81-82 XL500. Not a bad first street bike good fun around town/ country roads, too light on the highway, and a real pig in the woods coming off my 79CR125.

After that it was either street bikes or MX bikes/ quads for camping but i needed a bike with a plate. My buddy has been riding the trail network in PA and neighboring states and is on his second KLX, gave me his reasons why and it was good enough for me. He's been doing this awhile and it's one of the few instances where I just trusted someone else's opinion on a bike. Like I said I wasn't expecting much just a tool for a job nothing more. A simple dirt bike with a plate.

Well I've put over 200 miles on and I'm impressed. The bike is brilliant. Closest thing I've felt to being a kid on a bike in a long time lol. Did some long trails close by in a drizzle yesterday and again today. Been tearing around dirt roads and having a ball too.

Not feeling much need for any performance mods right now, i think it lugs pretty good in the rough stuff and riding a small "slow " bike on the road fast has been awesome.

I didn't think it would be, but being able to just head offroad and be out there in no time has been better than I remembered. I guess I missed that a little. The bike is just MUCH MORE than I expected. I've owned ridden about 15 bikes in my near lifetime of riding, had my share of duds and superstars and I'm starting to like this one. Maybe kawasaki hit a home run on this one, in my opinion anyway and that's all that matters right ?

Also have a 21 Ultra Limited and a 2005 GSXR 600, totally adore both but the KLX is my choice for riding slop and anytime rides, at least until the weather breaks and the roads clean up. Then I'll just see what happens. Also have a Yamaha Vstar 1100 Silverado for sale, the Harley replaced it and once I sell it I'm getting a KLX 🙂 The Vstar is listed for $2750 but honestly don't care if it sells. Great loaner bike for a friend and I'm supposed to teach both my son and his girl how to ride, both the Vstar and the KLX are decent learner bikes.

I'm super big on getting newer used bikes near half what they cost out the door new fbmp and a real hound on good deals. Always preaching to the younger guys you don't have to go brand shiny new and be married to your first bike you could hate it. I've gotten my last two bikes less than half new otd, both my Harley 2021 6000 miles already had the apes and exhaust, and the KLX.

I missed on the first KLX. Around here everyone wants $5000 2024 or 2014 doesn't matter. Well the first KLX was 2022 1200 miles $4000. But the guy had EVERYTHING done. Pipe bars IMS 3.7 GAL skid plate luggage back rack. It was Def the better deal. I texted said I'm highly interested when can i see it ? He texts back the next morning when I'm sleeping and asks where you coming from. I wake up still chatting with him instead of running there and watch the ad go from FOR SALE to PENDING lol.

The one I actually got was listed for about an hour $3500 300 miles, I'd talked to my girl this time and was ready. Messaged said I'll take it what's your venmo then sent $100 deposit picked it up the next day (yeah that's a brag &#128518 the girl thanked me said she was getting swarmed with texts (no kidding) They only had the Certificate of manufacturer Origin which I knew was wrong. Said we're going to need a title we'll work this out, went home with the bike, Bill of sale and notarized CMO which I knew wasn't good. Later the next day she found the letter rejecting application for title which she never read. Now the dealer has applied for a new CMO, will again apply for title, once that comes in we'll transfer it to me. Really nice people. Some might say I'm crazy for buying without a title but I knew enough to trust these people, and it was going to take a little time and effort. I just wasn't willing to walk away from that deal, she paid $7800 OTD which seems a little outrageous even for a dealer, but she gave me the sales receipt.

I also posted a Pic of the 2020 Ninja 1000SX I had for a season, Kawasaki castrated that thing with too low and closely spaced gearing, I hated it for several reasons but that was the big one. Some guys love the gearing, others like me simply can't live with it.

Got pointed here researching the secondary throttle plate delete on my KLX, wanted to get in on the action and figured I'd join.

Happy to be here and make new friends, share info, share some great stories !!!

put a few pics up because who doesn't like pics ?

Thanks For Reading,

Joe
