New from all over!
Originally from the south, but my job moves me around a decent bit, right now i'm in DC. Looking to buy another bike or 2, and not quite sure which. I'm thinking a ninja 650R in that lovely blue color( looking at 2 this weekend) for my daily driving and such. And then I want to have a project bike... kind of a sleeper. I wanted to do it as a ninja 250r, but most people have convinced me that without major work there's just no way to give a 250 50-60HP or more... so I'm thinking maybe a ninja 500 instead. I'm sure there are alot more ways to increase power with double the displacement, so that's what I'm trying to decide. What do you guys think? 650R to ride, 250 or 500 to play around with? Nice to meet you all and hope to learn lots of good info here!

Welcome to KF
The 500 is a fun bike, but there are not many aftermarket parts for it. For example, I called up area P on an exhaust for the 500, they have them for the 250 but not for the 500. I have not checked to see if the 250 exhaust would fit the 500 yet either.

Get a 250 and put a ZX-14 motor on it! Then you will have a real sleeper, but death coma machine may be a more appropriate name for it
Anyway, I am Worlok and it is a pleasure to have you abord Maity.........arrrggggh!

Welcome, Litt. If your job moves you around too much, I'd probably focus on the "commuter" until you get some quality time to spend with a project bike. It's always nice to be present when the big ticket mods get installed.
Glad to have you on the site. Keep us posted on the bike(s) and give us pics!
Gear up; stay safe.

Be our guinea pig. Get a 250 and tear it down, install lower compression pistons along with forged rods, button it back up and bolt on a turbo. I'd like to see a street-legal 250 that can outrun a ZX6R. :-)
