Easiest would be to get some heat wrap from a bike or street rod shop (like Summit or Jegs) and wrap it up. Another I have used is to have the pipe coated (like JetHot), which insulates the pipe, keeping in the heat for higher exhaust velocity, and cutting down radiant heat tremendously (still hot to touch, but it just doesn't radiate as much) plus something of no benefit in this case, it won't rust or corrode.
You could do the wrap and form up a guard that keeps some space between your leg and the wrapped pipe.

hmm, I hate exhaust wraps. For short term use they are ok. Too many burn outs of the exhaust metals. Rust, that kind of thing.
I would try the coating theory. Maybe even something like on this page....Exhaust Paint - Ceramic Coating Exhaust - Exhaust Coatings - Eastwood

Thanks for the 411 I have done tried to wrap the header but tring to wrap the bomb part of the.header is next to impossible it's like tring to wrap a 6 inch long football that's 9 1/2 inches around and there is know way to keep the wrap tight it just puckers up and want stay tight and not sure if the ceramic paint is the way to go either FMF has a prototype heat sheild on the board but no release date so I guess it te to head to the fab shop thanks and keep the ideas coming all input is appreciated

You know, with a sand bag and a rounded body hammer you could easily make your own. It might or might not look pretty, but it will work. You could even do it with some fiberglass using the pipe as a form. Glass it up then pop it off. Then glue some of the heat wrap on the back and wrap it around where you clamp it on. That will isolate the shield. I glued some asbestos material to the back of a heat shield on my SR500. It helped.
I agree on the heat wrap. I will say the ceramic coatings work great, but again, are still hot to the touch. Somehow it stops the radiant heat.
