N00B from AZ
Hey everyone,
I am a college student from Tempe, AZ. I have a truck right now, but Im debating selling my truck and getting a kawi ninja 250. The only reason I am thinking about this is my truck is financially killing me. With only getting 17 mpg on the highway, and paying 1000 dollars every six months for insurance is not exactly smart for my situation right now. Would getting a bike be a smart move for me? I know the ninjas are cheap to buy used, and i already checked the insurance on it, its like 70 a month. Which is very do-able for me. The only doubts I am having about getting a bike as my only vehicle is getting stuff like groceries. I'm sure it is manageable.
Can anybody with experience having a bike as their main vehicle reassure my doubts?
Thanks everyone,
-Jason

Yes a bike is a great option for saving money on fuel. And usually the payments are a lot lower. Just get a KLX, and a backpack and you are all setup. Don't limit yourself to riding on the roads only, with a Dual Sport bike you can have fun both on and off road, while saving money. Come on you know you want to. Oh welcome to the forums.
Pick up a beater car for $500.00 when you need to go to the grocery store, or the weather is really bad.

^1 ha ha! I think getting yourself a bike is a great way to save some money. Don't worry about groceries and stuff. That's when you get a friend to help you out! And like deej said, a lot of things can be carried in a back pack, tank bag, saddle bags etc... The 250 Ninja is a great choice. Good luck, and let us know how you make out!

Thanks guys! And deej, I wasn't saying you're old...or was I? Haha. I was saying that with experience behind you, it's easier for insurance companies to trust you, which means your rates are lower. I have greatly been considering the tank/saddle bags. They seem like they would be more than efficient for my needs.
Thanks again for the support.

Welcome to KF dez
Using a ride full time will have its limits. I did it for a couple of yrs on a Ninja in a wetter climate. Since you do not have snow, you should be fine. Watch out for theft though and gear up.
