my first dual sport: KLX250S
Just wanted to say hello... been lurking for a short while. I got the klx about a month ago. I've already learned a lot about it from you guys and did most of the free/cheap/easy mods. A few accessories added and a few more on the list. I come from a sport bike background. ...had a couple zx7's before this. I haven't ridden in a few years and wanted something different. Maybe a little slower is a good thing at this stage of the game. Anyway, I'm still learning the differences of this girl, but I love it so far. Thanks to all that contribute to the knowledge base here!
This 60+ year old finds the 250 a lot of fun to run. You get to play throttle jockey a lot more without exciting the constabulary or the general pedestrians. I've gotten away from the street bikes and anything very big. If I want to juice it up a bit I ride the KLX650 I have for my road bike now that the 250 is in there beside it.
I think you will find the dual sport just plain fun and games most of the time. Keep it on the back roads and it's fun, around town it's fun, but on the wide open highway it's a tad weak and definitely boring... but then again anything on the highway is boring... the reason why I just don't care for any big bikes. Heck, I want a Zuma scooter for running back and forth to work, because they're fun and you can stick a grocery bag between your feet!
