half a foot on the ground is actually a pretty solid stance for short F's like us. But once the suspension is setup, it will get better.
I too prefer to leave my ride in gear when parked. Nothing worse than hearing a loud crunch after leaving your ride on the side stand. Since you have a center stand or maybe on the 09's, not sure, I would always use that option. Enjoy the good times.
