Hey yall!!!!!!!
Hey yall, newbi here thats planin on getting a bike. Im plannin on starting ona ninja 250 eithers this summer or next. I really want to get a zx 6r in a few years, but i dont want to kill myself so i figured its best to start on a 250. Whats thebig difference inthe suzuki gsxr600, yamaha ysf r6, honda cbr 600, and the ninja zx 6r?If some one would race them all would they be about the same?Im planning on goin threw the saftey course and all that and am for sure gonna get all the gear. Is there anything else yall would recomend for me to do, or a good bike to start on?I dont have avery bigbudget, soi thought the250 would prolly bemy best choice for a summer or 2 and then move up to the zx 6r.Thanks

RE: Hey yall!!!!!!!
Sorry, I can't help you much, other than to tell you that you should probably start on something bigger than a 250 if you're buying one. The 250s are great for the MSF class but you'll want something bigger if you're planning on keeping it for more than a season of riding. I started on a Kawasaki Ninja 500R and I have no complaints after riding 250s in the MSF class. Good Luck.

RE: Hey yall!!!!!!!
well first of all welcome to the fourms. and yea the 250 is a good bike to start out with but your going to get tired with it after a while. I started with the zx6r and have been in love with it ever since. As for the other bikes and the zx6r there all pretty close in performance it all really comes down to what you like and feel like fits you. If you put the same guy on each of them he would pretty much run the same way on all of them except a few seconds here and there. It all comes down to the rider not the bike.

So you think after i took the course and got lisenced and everything it would be just as good to start on a zx 6r and keep it for along time? Instead of gettin a little 250? I just dont want to like drop it or nothing since its alot more expensive than a 250. I guess they weigh close to the same tho 50 some pounds difference.

if your worried about dropping it ride one of there bikes to ge tuse to riding then come home and try on your bike to get use to it. just becareful on the zx6r because it will have more power than the 250. or you could get frame sliders installed before you take the course that will help if you drop the bike.

Welcome to the forum
Your first street ride or maybe even the first ride period, as mentioned above, you will need to feel comfortable while positioned. I like pretty much all of the rides out there. Do your own thinking and reading between the lines on all of the rides. If the 250 and all of your riding gear fits your budget then get the 250. Wish ya well in your decision.

Welcome to KF, and +1 on the fact that you will soon get over the 250. I started on a 250 and after about 1 year i couldnt stand it any more so went and bought a ZX6R 2000 model. I rode that off about 4 months ago a,d recently bought another ZX6R 2007 model (You can tell i like the ZX6Rs). Do whatever you feel more comfortable with. And good luck

RE: Hey yall!!!!!!!
i started out on an old school gpz600. which is prolly about the same as a new modle 250 or maybe a 500. i just got a brand new zx6r and holy hell i have a sh*t eating grin every time i ride. im sure you will get bored of the 250 very shortly. but like drag said the differncein the bikes is mostly comfort level.
