Help a rookie out!!!!
Hello, I'm new to the forum as well as riding. I just purchased my first bike; a 2000 ninja 250. (Figure I'll start off slowly, then work my way up to a zx-6r!).
The bike is in pretty good condition, perfect for being that if I was to lay the bike down, I won't cry.
The only thing that I notice is that the bike seems to idle at low rpms. It idles at about 1500. Is this okay, if not, what should it idle at.
The person I bought it from (a very nice guy) said he kept up the maintenence on the bike. But I am wondering what should I get done to the bike. It's in Maryland and I have to drive it up to New York.
What do you guys/gals think?

hey dude welcome to the forum. i don't think you have anything to worry about. it seem to be right. i have an 05 636. and after the idol drops, the sits at about 12 to 15 hundred, so you should be fine. have you taken the bike out yet? or have you taken the safety course? well in any case gear up and ride safe....
Yes, I have taken the msf and passed!!!! I've taken it out a little. Since I just bought it and need to bring it back to NY, it's not registered so I just went around the neighborhood. Thanks for the reply. What would be considered regular maintence for a bike?
clean and oil the chain every 300 miles or so. change the oil every 3000 miles. that's pretty much it. take the bike to a shop for anything else. unless you know how to change wires and clugs. adjusting the curbs would most likely be done at a shop. good luck brother. ride safe.

Did your bike come with the owners manual? If not you should be able to order one from kawasaki. Lots of info for you there about scheduled maintenance.
Try this link to find your manual. http://www.kawasaki.com/Default.asp?...D=2&intParts=0
Oh yea welcome and ride safe.
