Hello All
Hello. New to the group from Pittsburgh, PA. 27 Male. Never rode a streetbike before in my life and I'm looking to buy one this year. Narrowed it down to Ninja250R or 500R. Just want to thank everyone for all the helpful information that I've found to make my decision.

Welcome to the forums! The two that you have narrowed it down to are excellent bikes to start out on (I started out - and am still on a Ninja 500). When you get one, make sure you post some pics! Good luck!

Nice choices on the bikes like they said the 500r would be the best choice for you. That way you don't get tired with it after a couple of months. Welcome to the fourms by the way.

RE: Hello All
Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. I'm still looking for a bike. I've decided on the Ninja 500(thanks everyone), I sat on one and started it up. Gave it a little gas and I'm hooked. (I didn't even test drive it). I will definitely let you guys know when I get my bike. I'll post some pics and when I pass my MSF class, get my license and feel comfortable on the road I'll send you fella's a message and meet up for a ride. I got a question if anyone can answer, I guess its more of an opinion. I seen this 1990 Ninja 500 with 5, 289 miles on it seller wants $1,700.00 obo (that was the one sat on, started up) It looked like its in good condition although I don't really know how to check Bikes out. I did a search on google (Buying Used motorcycle checklist) so at least I know something to look for. The bike had a dent in the tank. Little road rash. The 17 year old admitted he dumped it a low speed. The fairing isn't cracked but off center. When you look at the front its off center from dumping it I imagine. I told them this was the 1st bike I looked at and I need to compare it to another. Don't want to jump on the 1st bike I see. I asked if 1700 is the best they can do. They looked at me and said 1400?? Then told me to make them an offer. I told them I'll keep in touch. I need to look at a few others. By the time I got home I had an email. They said they can go lower that 1400.00. Kellys blue book has it for $1475, NADAguide has it $750-$950, and Motorcycle consumer news has its value at, well it stops at 1991, but that one was 1,040.00. I'm not sure if they'll take 1,000.00 for it or not. But does anyone think a 1990 Ninja Ex500 w/ 5k miles on it worth 1200? I haven't got back to them yet. Wow, sorry for novel. Thanks again everyone.

RE: Hello All
if the bike starts right up and doesn't over heat and everything sounds fine when you ride it, i would say it's a good deal..... i wouldn't worry too much about the body work.... the point is, thats gonna be your first bike learn all you can on it....
