Hi y'all. I'm new here. Been riding forever. bought my first Kawasaki at age 15 (Roadrunner, hats off to anyone who knows what that is).
Have owned 10 bikes-all kinds. KX250, ninja 600's 2 each. Suzuki X6, Honda Interceptor, Yamaha Special. Now I ride a Harley Electra Glide Police. 1690cc (4 inch bore), 6 speed, injected, Screamin' Eagle heads, ABS, Bagger. Black with extra chrome.
It loves to go fast, and still feels great after 100 miles at a time. It has SOUL and is really really fun to ride. Plus there's a billion aftermarket parts available.
Anyhow, I live in Phoenix and bike week is an event I look forward to all year.
I take full advantage of all the manufacturers that bring all their new bikes to ride.
Kawasaki is always there and everyone working the booth acts like they WANT to be there for US, the riders.
I test ride all types for all 4 days. V-Stars, Concours, Fzs, Ninjas, Sportsters, Versys, V-Max, XR1200, Street Glide, Warrior, KLR650, even the $30,000 CVO Fat Bob.
No Honda, they are too snobby to show. I was in the Stereo biz for a long time and Honda attitude reminds me of Sony attitude. Suck my D*ck, we're Sony, you wanna buy it or not?
Point is, Z1000 is the most fun bike I have ridden in YEARS. When you go out, the escorts warn you. "No wheelies, stoppies or any stunts or we take the keys and make you walk back". And they do. Well the second day I get to ride a Z1000 for my third ride of the day and I'm crackin the throttle and this thing sounds great like it Wants to launch.
We pull out of the parking lot of Westworld in Scottsdale, about 10 riders with an escort front and back. Kawasaki escorts are very accomodating, they can tell who the experienced riders are and will give you a chance to get on it and wring it out a little bit at a time. Well the first chance I get to jump on the throttle, the front end goes for the sky. I control it and bring it down gradually, trying not to bring attention to myself. The rest of the ride is great, power is always there not just above 8 grand and it likes to corner without being jerky. We get back and the rear escort comes over to me and says "I saw that wheelie, but I could tell you didn't do it on purpose and you controlled it very well, thats why I didn't make you walk back. These are FUN, Huh?"
I feel sorry for anyone who will only ride one kind of bike.

Sounds like a great event, I've yet to see an event in the NE where they let you test ride... well okay, the local harley dealer had one 1 year before I moved to where it was local. :P I'd love to test ride some other bikes though!
