Default CHECKING IN

I own a green ZX6R on a 51 plate having sold CBR600 (much loved but financial predicament at that time forced sell) some time back. Had bike for about 8months. Fun and quick by comparison but twitchy in my opinion.

As well as this site I also access www.boxhill.co.uk, which is a great site with great bunch of guys who I have met at Roedean cafe on Sunday mornings.

The reason for my accessing this site is to ask your opinions in a bid to avoid unnecessary costs for bike repair.

Already have dropped bike repairs to pay for this month (£250+) and now have a mechanical issue to sort with bike waiting in garage as I type.

My bike recently started coughing and spluttering and revs dropped badly to the point that it cut out on motorway a few nights back @ 80-90 in rain; dark and middle lane.....

I managed to get it going again a few times to reach the fleet services then called for roadside pick-up to drop me and bike home (bloody bikes...).

Above 7k revs and 80-90mph+ it ran ok but below it sounded and felt like it wanted to lie down and die, which wasn't ideal with cars braking every 2 seconds in the wet and fear of back wheel locking up at speed in wet!

The mechanic has checked plugs and air valve or tube/pipe and says all ok. He now suggests its either the fuel pump (£130 approx); something else linked (£25approx) or a faulty alarm.

With big cost differences can anyone give me their opinion on here PLEASE!!

Much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Duane

First of all welcome to the forums! Not sure what the problem could be with your bike - I'm mechanically challenged!

Hope you get it fixed up soon, someone else here will hopefully be able to help you figure it out.

If the mechanic thinks fuel pump, that should be easy enough to test. Volume test and pressure test. Welcome to the site. I am sure you will enjoy, I sure do...
