Breaking in bike

RE: Breaking in bike
When I first started riding the dealer told me to change the oil at 500 miles and 1000 miles.
Then change the oil every 3,000 miles. I was also told not to use synthetic oils until after 10,000 miles.
Dragone is right I too have heard a few different things about break in. Some say to follow the manufacturers suggestions and others say to ride how you will ride it. I broke both ninjas in by following the rules and I have not had any engine problems.

RE: Breaking in bike
The idea behind chaning the oil after the first 200 miles is that there are small metal particles and what not in the engine from it being built. By changing it that quickly you get the oil fully run through the bike and you get the crappy oil out quickly.
Many theories on break in...I rode it like I stole it from the start, and she runs fine, thats my opinion, it seems like no matter what way you break it in, it works fine.

I have heard many theories as well. Doesn't seem to be a right or wrong answer so far. I got my bike at 1,100 miles so not sure how it was broke in, but it is running just fine. I forget what the valve adjustment times are though.

RE: Breaking in bike
i had 3 new bikes and i always followed manual more or less. for kawi do like this: first 500 miles don't run it above 5000 rpm....you have to do service on some 600miles (change filter and oil). some people doesn't put synthetic oil until some 8000 or 10000 miles. but i put synthetic oil on first service (10w40 or 15w50) because it can stand high rpm better then mineral oil. after first 500miles on 5000rpm do like this: from 500 to some 650 miles don't ride it above 6000rpm, then from 650 to some 750 don't go above 7000rpm, from 750 to 900 reach for 8000 rpm, from 900 to 1000 miles don't go above some 9000rpm...after 1000 miles she's broke in more or less so you can do this: 2 times push her to 10000rpm (and hold her for some minute or two on 10000), then let her cool of a little by driving her on low rpm...then push her 2 times to 11000rpm (also for a minute or two) and cool of as before, then push her 2 times to 12000rpm and cool her of and after that she's ready for anything you want
