What's up everyone? Just wanted to swing in and introduce myself. Just bought myself a 2002 ZX6R yesterday (pic below), haven't ridden it much yet but the 20 or so miles I did ride were impressive. Butter smooth acceleration, nice agility, easy to turn, breaks work good. About the only bad thing I've encountered so far is that my knees sort of hit the rear edge of the lower faring when I put my feet down at a stop...not really a big deal though.
I bit on me: got my first bike about 12 years ago...coincidentially enough, it was an EX500 (now the Ninja 500). Rode it for a year (no training, only a helmet...very squidly) before selling because of a job relo. Fast forward to last year, I bought 2003 Suzuki SV650S....I really enjoyed the bike and did it right the 2nd time through. Took the MSF, got a good helmet, gloves, leather jacket, pants, gloves boots, etc. As much as I enjoyed the freedom the bike offered (I'm in So Cal...do some lane splitting but at low speeds only), it was under powered (I'm 6'3, 180). Also, I'm 42 now and felt a bit uncomfortable on that bike after an hour or two so I looked for something a bit more upright. I ended up with a brand new Aprillia Tuono 1000R a year after buying the Sv. A LOT of bike but I felt like I had it under control...i was wrong...after a few months, I high sided on a canyon run (long story, but it was down hill blind left hander and I was going in a bit hot)....totalled the bike, broke some ribs, bruised my ego, etc. Took a few months, but finally got the urge to jump back in the saddle....started scanning craigslist for some 600cc bikes and ended up with this little beauty.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! So, hey everyone!
