Unhappy 2007 EX 250 - Any help would be appreciated

I just bought a used Ninja. After 500 miles I look at my left pant leg and from the calf down I was saturated in oil. There is a quarter size hole toward the top of the upper cylander head on the motor. It looks like some sort of a plug was in there. I went to kawasaki and the said that plug is not available and that I needed to purchase the entire upper cylander at $900. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Check www.bikebandit.com...I posted the link for the ex250 below. If not, check ebay.....there are tons of parts out there, you just gotta look for em. I have a 95 GPZ1100 and parts are hard to track down, but I find them.

Bikebandit also has all the schematics, so you can track down the part if you don't have a number of the "exact" name...lol. Hope this helps.

Is it the casting plug on the left in the parts break down?

If it is, the parts counter told you correctly. But it is in a low pressure area and I would think that a nice butyl rubber cap could be found for it.

Good luck with the research and repairs and welcome to KF

Thanks for the help! yes it is the casting plug which does not have a part number. Where would I look to purchase butyl rubber cap?

post up the plug specs. I am not in the shop to look at my 500 for comparison.

My next question is,,,, why was the casting plug popped open? or basically, how is this possible while riding?

Welcome to the site Kevin. I would try a lot of things before I spent $900!!! There must be a wrecked bike out there for parts.

I'm thinking an expandable boat plug, does anyone have pictures of where this plug is located?

This is what I had in mind.

Thanks for your help. Im kinda new to this so you may get this a couple of times. I am attaching a copy of the casing that blew out. I bought the bike used with 14,000 miles. I have ridden it less than 300 miles. Not hard as this is my daily transportation. I got to work which is 8 miles away and my leg was covered in oil. The bike sat for 3 years per the last time the tags were updated.
Uggg I cant figure out how to get the picture attached
