Default 1990 zx10r

I am a beginning rider. and i was wondering if a 1990 zx10r would be a good bike for me to get. it only has about 137 hp, alot less than the new 1000's. and almost the same as the new 600s and 750s. so please i need some feed back asap. the bike i'm looking at is only $2500 a pretty good price. tell me what you think.

Welcome swoop.

First off to answer your question, Yes if you go very easy and do not get to throttle happy. I learned on a liter bike just take it easy.

Now for some info. The bike you are looking at has 137 HP and probably weighs in at about 450 LBS. It's going to be very fast and will put you on your *** if your not careful.

New liter bikes are producing about 140-145 hp stock of the show room floor

New 600 bikes are making 95-105 hp. These numbers are give or take a little so please no flamers if I am off by 5 hp.

Also 600 and liter bikes of today are just about the same on the low end and part way through the midrange, it's only on the top and high speeds that we start smoking the 600's.

Sweet looking old bike though. Hope this helps.

swoop, notstock is right. you should be really careful if you decide to take that bike. even though it's older, it still would be able to knock you on your *** the second you don't respect the bike. the first time on a bike for me was on a huricane 1000. that was back in the day. but anyway just start out real slow and don't get over confident. that's how bad things happen. so make sure you gear up take the safety course and ride safe.... oh and welcome to the forum.....

Welcome to the forums! Very nice looking bike - but if you do get it - be careful! Don't out ride your capabilities and you should be okay. Keep us posted on what you decide.
