hey, have you tried flushing it out?
i was thinking maybe rather thantaking the engine off and splitting the cases and all that pain in the a** s*** you should try this.
gat a fresh quart or two of oil and half a milk jug (washed out and dried of course) then open the fill cap and the drain plug. put the 1/2 milk jug under the drain and pour the fresh oil in until its all gone out of the original canister and drained into the 1/2 jug through the engine... then pour the oil out of the half milk jug into another pan or sompething. put the jug back and re-pour the oil through the engine... if it broke off right in the drain hole it should flush out pretty easy, ive never done this cus ive never really had this kind of problem but im pretty shure it'd work. worst case senario youre stuck with a fresh quart of oil and the same problem you had when you started.

man that sucks. its an 06, did you get the extended warranty? i know some better mechanics have telescoping cameras and stuff like that, maybe they could fish it out with sompething of that sort. but worst comes to worst just take it to someone you trust to split it, or do it yourself if you have enough experience/knowhow. but if you ran as much oil throught it as you say you did and it didnt come out its proabilly not as close to the drain as you want it to be.

p.s. as a last resort before tearing it appart you could try filling it with oil, then draining it into the jug. maybe the extra weight and flow will give it that last little push it needs. unlikely, but worth a shot before you teardown a new bike.

I would get the bike way up off the ground, and make some sort of tool out of a soft piece of aluminum or even a hanger and get in there and try to hook it out, there has to be a way to get that thing out without tearing the motor apart. I would not ride it until I got it out. But that's just me.
