I'm picking up a 95 kx250 this weekend and I'm pretty new to the 2 stroke scene so I need a little help. As luck would have it the bike I'm picking up at one time was one of my soldiers so I got a little more down and dirty on the bike. My soldier tells me that there is some noise coming from the power valve department and said it needed to be looked at. I just learned exactly what the power valve does can anyone let me know what the problem(s) may be? I realize that there a number of things it could be but I don't even know where to begin to trouble shoot.

From what I have read on the subject they are reliable (power valve that is) but do require maintenance. If it is broken it costs a lot to fix, if it needs cleaning and you can do it yourself it's not too bad.
