No Power

RE: No Power
I spoke with the bikes owner(my cousin)and asked him if the last time he rode it did he put fresh gas in it. He said the gas was fresh and the plug was fresh too. Healso said that the problem has been happening for awhile but has gotten progresively worse. It is now to the point where the bike cannot be ridden. I havent had a chance to play with it yet but I plan to this weekend as rain is forecastfor the entire weekend.

if it aint the fuel or the plug it may be worn piston and/or barrel. does kick start move with little resistance? try getting it compression checked. if spark plug was grey or white at the tip when you removed it check jetting (possible blockage) if that dont work, sacrifice a virgin and dance naked round the bike at the stroke of midnight. might be hard finding a virgin though.

Had the same problem with my old Suzuki 250. It's the rings, theyre worn out. Do a simple compression test, pull the plug, put your thumb over the hole and push down the kicker. If you CAN hold your thumb over the hole on any part of the compression stroke the rings are shot. It's a simple job you can do without pulling the whole engine. If you have never done it and need some help just ask and I can walk you thru it.

had an '84 kx80 come thru the shop last summer with the exact same problem.
when i slid the jug off, the piston, from the skirt to the dome, looked like a sawzall was taken to it.
this warranted a sleeve job, and a new piston.....
just lettin ya know what you may find..
the bike (once broken in) ran like a raped ape after that, and fired up on the first kick EVERY time.
