Crank confusion kx125

What's the difference between the cranks with aluminum inserts and the solid steel style in 92-93 kx125 Both appear identical in all other ways. Is one better then the other in the long run?

I'd prefer not to have to do a full rebuild this extensive agian any suggestions from anyone that's been down the same road would be helpful
