Default klx300SM vibration...

I just picked up my KLX300SM today, and was concerned with the quite noticeable vibration in both the hand grips and the foot pegs.
I have owned two DRZ400SM’s, and this vibration is way beyond that.
Is this normal?
I probably will be getting some vibration tape to dampen the vibration.
I experienced this even though I wear rather thick Held gloves...

Hi Bruce,
I copied your post to the KLX300 forum as your post was in a thread which had a different topic.

No, it is not normal.

I rode a DRZ400SM for 11 years and 35,000 miles and my KLX300SM has essentially NO vibration compared to the Suzuki. Your dealer definitely needs to check it out.

Check the chain to see if it's either too tight or too loose. That can cause vibration while in motion. Does the engine vibrate at rest when revved, or only when the bike is moving? Is the vibration under load of also when coasting? That might indicate whether it's an engine or a drivetrain issue.

he KLX300 engine has a rotating counterbalancer which should make it smooth as butter. If there might be any vibration at all, those thick rubber mounts on the pegs would soak it all up. Let me know what you come up with.

Hey Greg, I see you are on this forum as well as ADV.

My KLX300SM has a high frequency buzz in the grips and seat, but not in the pegs. It is not that noticeable until I get off the bike and my fingers are feeling numbish/buzzy/tingly.

My 2012 KLX250S was pretty much the same way. My other bikes have a low frequency vibration that some call "power pulses", but these little engine that rev definitely have a high frequency buzz.

Yeah, I like forums.

With my bars I hardly feel it.
