KLX300 short shifter
I just put a stubby Honda Grom shifter on my KLX300.
It's one inch shorter than the stock shifter which fits my foot better. Being forged alloy, it's 6 ounces lighter than the steel shifter.
It's not a plug and play installation, however it was not difficult to make it fit. I heated the shifting arm with a propane torch and bent it outward about a half inch so as to clear the case. Then I ground the end of the shaft to position the folding part of the lever back to being perpendicular to the case. I'm taking the bike to work tomorrow and will post how it feels.
If you look close, you'll see the foot peg iangles forward slightly. These were cheap $30 pegs I got off ebay that were for another model. They're perfectly flat and fit the holders fine so it's too slight to be felt.
