I just got a 2001 KLX for the right price . It runs and hasnt been abused . In the end , I want it to be a plated dual sport . Here's the problem : I know nothing about the bikes except what I've read . I'm used to the power of my CRF450R Honda and know that the stock 300 isnt even gonna come close . I can see a pumper carb in my future , but cant see shelling out 400.00 for one on ebay . Also , several guys say they're running the FCR37 carb from an early Yamaha YZ250F . 37 sounds too big for the 300 and I would like to run a 35 mm ...if I can find one , What bike came stock with an FCR 35 ....or FCR36 as an OEM carburetor ? I sure hope someone has an answer ...cause I'm stuck .
