1st Kawasaki ever
Hi, to everyone. I have been riding all my life, but I never owned a Kawasaki of any kind. I never had anything against Kawasaki but I always bought Triumphs, Honda and Yamaha just out of habit. I traded my Honda Foreman 400 4x4 for a 1999 KLX300R. It seemed like a good deal to me, and to the kid who wanted it. I don't like 4x4 quads, it is more like a fast tractor, didn't need a plow or winch and takes up too much garage space. I also needed a dedicated dirt bike because I sold my CR125(fiancé's idea, sold the CBR600rr her idea too) and have been lost without it. I read how dependable the KLX is and how they made it for over 20 years so I thought it was a good trail bike. I know it isn't quite at the level of the CR125 but the suspension is much stiffer than my CRF300 rally so I hope I am not disappointed once I can do some real riding on it this weekend. Even though it runs and starts excellent, the KLX needed some TLC. So far I changed the oil, brake fluid, plug, deleted the headlight replaced it with a KX250 number plate. I replaced the beat-up rear fender with a KX style aftermarket rear fender. I am putting on a new chain and front and rear tires tomorrow. The steering headset has a little play I snugged it up but it is worn, but I am having my nephew change out the bearing and races a couple weeks from now just because I don't like that job, and it will take me hours longer than he will.

The larger tank is a really useful accessory.
And same here... 57 years riding, my first Kasasaki, and it's the best bike I've ever owned.
