"You guys?" Are you seeing double? As far as I can see, there is only one person implying that the KLX is 'doomed' over some silly publicity stunt cooked-up by Yamaha.

 

if you got the klx to race, you bought the wrong bike.... imo

I would agree that "out of the box", the KLX isn't a "race" bike, but I'd bet I could finish an enduro on one, definitely a NJ enduro. The blinkers may be busted off, but I'd finish. It would be fun.

Rumor has it the wr250r is suppose to put out more power than the drz 400s-RUMOR I SAID! I have tried to find this Mag. locally but have not yet http://www.supermotoracer.com/ suppose to be the first test of the X version as I heard it was written in this report!That it puts out more power. Also the X shares the same motor as the R. As for the KLX250S this bike does everything I need and then some, now if I ever get my over-the-hill lard azz back into being able to ride as long and as hard as I could when I was in my twenties, Whoa that sounds kinky!Then I probably would look for something a little ****ier

 

Before I get the "you bought the wrong bike for a race bike" comment again.....who in here has actually raced? A hare scramble is nothing more than a trail ride at a quick pace. The klx is not the best at this, and I totally understand that but for what I want to use it for its great. And whoever told you the WR250R has more power than the DRZ400, they are smoking some serious **** man. If you get on yamaha of europes site they list the power numbers. It makes barely 30 hp at the crank, which is 25 or less at the rear wheel. Better than our KLX's but nowhere near a stock DRZ which makes 34 at the rear wheel.

 

The new WR should be a decent machine but there is room in this market segment for several good models, I'm considering adding (not replacing) one to my collection.
I also noticed that FMF already has a complete exhaust system and an EFI programmer available for the new Yamaha.
