Dr.,

You are absolutely killing me here! Can't you see that I am trying desperately to quit spending money on this bike! If it weren't for people like you constantly telling us about cool stuff still out there for our bikes, I would have been done a long time ago!

I had finally convinced myself that I just could not afford a larger tank. I was resigned to that. I was prepared to go through my life stopping at the gas station every other day. Now I can no longer be happy know that there is a cheap alternative out there. My only hope is that someone here drives the bidding up so high that it will no longer be remotely attainable.

Seriously, though. Thanks for this tip. If it doesn't go up much from the starting bid of $120 + $20 S&H, then I might try for it. Much above that and there is no way I can sneak it under the radar.

BTW, scatter a bunch of these () throughout this whole post. It's all good. Just wishing I had more money to play with.

Sold for $138.51. If it looks to good to be true... I checked with the local dealer and the required petcock is $90.00 and the KLX250R shrouds that they say are required are no longer available as O.E.M. part. Buyer beware.

Someone got a really good deal, I paid much more than it sold for.....That was my auction. Your dealer must not like you, I bought a WR petcock for my YZ to give me reserve, and it only cost $14. (from thumpertalk OEM). Also, Maier Mfg. still makes the KLX250 plastic, and, if you did any more research, you would see that many people on here reuse the 250S shrouds with a little trimming, which actually looks really good. If it looks to good to be true, it must just be me cleaning out my garage.

Stock Petcock for the KLR300R can be had for $60ish. Aftermarket for even less. KLX250S shrouds fit with a little bit of work. Used KLX250R shrouds come up on eBay frequently.

IMS, it's what's for dinner!

Sorry, I was going by your e-bay auction that states "It will also fit a KLX250s with a little effort to reroute a few wires out of the way, and must use the KLX250R radiator shrouds". It is good to know that Maier MFG. still makes the shrouds for the KLX250R for future reference as I am definitely in need of a longer range. Would the stock 250s petcock work with the IMS? Sounds like I missed a great deal.

bmwhd,
Looks great! Which shrouds are you using? It looks really close to stock which is what I prefer. Will I need to start looking for an aftermarket KLX300R petcock? Thanks.

Those are the stock shrouds on my bike. Just trimmed down a bit. Somewhere in the older posts in this forum is a thread on this tank and how to install it.

There's a petcock on eBay right now:
