Question Would you use that tire

I got a used tire that would fit on the back rim of the bike. There are some small nicks on the bead resulting from poor mounting technique I guess. They don't seem too bad. My plan was to "repair" them using rubber cement or something similar.

Do you think it would still be a safe tire to use once repaired?

Thanks

Assuming the structural beads under the rubber are not damaged, I would use it. You are running tubes and the little KLX won't be generating severe forces on the tire.

No need to repair them. Use as-is.

Once there is air in the tube it will lock that bead onto the rim. No problema.

A far more dangerous issue is being seen with a tire that says "golden boy" on it.

Oh, yeah. I've got one as well.

I'd use it. I just got the same tire. "Golden Boy". Funny. I bought a Shinko 244 and got a "Golden Boy". Still need to mount mine.

I get a kick out of the marketing names that some of these Oriental tire companies come up with. Don't you think they'd benefit from asking around a bit before stamping their tires for the American market? I have two 13" tires on my motorcycle trailer named "Good Ride"...really. On the other hand, they have proven to be excellent tires.

Thank you guys! I'll use it and will save some $$. I know they are not the best off road tires, but I do a lot of asphalt. They seem to be one of the best true 50/50 out there.

Golden boy you say? Maybe cause it's best to keep holding on to what's golden?
