Default Winter riding prep?

What do you guys do to your KLX250's for winter riding?

My bike sat for 2 days this weekend, and was pretty difficult to start this morning.

Will Sta-bil also help the bike start in cold weather?

I plan on riding till it starts to snow here... which might not be for another few weeks.

I use Stabil and it seems to help. Keep the battery on a battery tender trickle-type charger. I also drilled the enrichment jet to 0.018" which helps, especially for cold-weather starting. Turning off the petcock and running some or most of the fuel out of carb float bowl after a ride also seems to help.

I'll try the Sta-Bil, and see if that helps.

Bike started no issue after work, but it wasn't that cold out... above zero C, was below zero this morning.

I think I am one of the lucky few that have no issue with cold weather starting. I just stop the bike and start when needed. If stopped for a long time I find covering the exhaust momentarily while starting helps and also quick starter cycles instead of long ones. I never do the petcock thing... I have never needed the need.

How cold though? I'm talking leaving it outside in 2 nights of freezing temperatures.

I forgot about the Sta-Bil last night... fired up no issue this morning.

I guess it takes 3 nights of sitting in freezing weather to cause my problems...

Stabil will not help cold starting it just keeps the fuel from gummimng up when it sits unused, if you were able to start and ride the bike weekly you wouldn't need stabil.

It'll be put away once it snows.

And brought back out once it stops snowing.

I have a timer for my battery tender. it turns on for 2 hours a day. The bike is always ready for a quick ride when the weather allows, all winter.

We are just getting into the below freezing weather and it's a bitch to start without doing the petcock thing

Guess I'm lucky as I didn't drill the carb and I don't shut off my gas and I can start the bike down to about 20 degrees F, any colder and I don't want to ride anyway.
