I bet, and I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but he was probably going over 100 mph to have that happen, and yes I know that people in cars don't see us, and yes you can be hurt or killed going 25 in a small town and yes I know all of that, but the fact of the mater is that for every mile over a given speed limit you go on a bike you increase your chances of when something does go wrong of it being amplified. Come on guys, please remember those photos every time you get on a bike. Wearing all the gear all the times, helps, but perhaps the best article of gear you could ever wear is your thinking cap.
