Any word is Kawasaki may be bringing this bike back in the 11/12 model year as a DS?
In this economy and more stringent emission requirements in '10, I doubt we'll ever see this as a street legal ride. KTM has put a lot of effort into offering what are basically race bikes with street legal credentials, and I don't think anyone else really wants to try to compete with that right now. Even a decently detuned KLX450R in street legal trim would be awesome, but I'd be amazed to see it...but overwhelmingly happy.

Biggest problem is, the taxing and insurance requirements and "stages" you have to go through in other countries for a road vehicle is very stressful. YOu have to progress through "cc" classes with your licensing. So if they cant make it at home, they aint gonna make it for you. The biggest class of commute is 250. Once i get some monies im going to street out a KX450f.

Read any of the cycle rags when they ask the corporate brass about why "X" country gets "Y" bike & we in the US don't & the answer is always the same and simple....it costs too much money to jump through all the US homologation hoops to be profitable sellign a couple hundred or even thousand units. Other countrys like New Zealand, Austria, & some others that have specs similar to Japan always get the cool bikes because there specs are so close to Japan. There are dozens of bikes the US does not get, they just don't sell unless they are a CBRRGSXRZXRYZR.

FYI.......Washington state is currently weeding out some of the KTM's coming into them for transfer of title and current registration. If the eighth (8) digit in the VIN is a zero (0), it is eligible for a license plate. If that digit is a three (3), sorry........no soup for you! Don't have a clue on the YamaHondaKawaZuki's.......I've been looking at KTM's!
